Jacques Montel
Born in Toulouse France 1955
Moved to Sweden 1960 and lives in Malmö.
Worked as Artist, Setdesigner (Theater), Exhibitiondesigner.
In 2006, I decided to work more seriously with photography. It has always fascinated me and has been a part of my previous artistry and also in my work in theater and design.
After trying out different photographic areas in my search for what fascinates me and who can represent my own imagery, there have finally been two categories. Portraits and Architecture as well as Urban Exploring (explore renowned buildings ranging from small red chalets to nuclear reactors).
I'm constantly looking for new angles and light sources and the incredible diversity of light fascinates me.
To exemplify a beautiful architectural building that completely changes in 5 minutes as the light changes is a spectacle I never get tired of.
I can stand for an hour or more completely absorbed by the incident. The clouds that move ... throw shadows on the building and the sun moving so slowly.
I like to work with assignments and projects, long or short ones. I am also open for new ideas and crazy adventures.
An ongoing project is "Stairwell To...", its a photo documentation about Malmö's stunning stairwells that are usually hidden for many of us. It will end into a book and exhibition.
Today, I also run a photo gallery with the name S1. There I also have my studio and organize workshops and other exciting events that are photo-related for example LIGHT PAINTING PORTRAITS.
I am also a photography teacher at Kilowatt School in Malmö for grades 4-9.
Chairman of Malmö Photomaraton as well as Malmö Reclaim Photography
