Lapo Ruffi Architetti / LRA
Lapo Ruffi, after graduating in Architecture at the University of Florence in 1998, founded his own firm Lapo Ruffi Architetto / LRA in Pistoia, moving along a continuous research on the meanings of living, places and matter. The studio works on large urban and landscape architectures to small solitary houses, participating in national and international competitions, including the first prize for Europan 9 in Italy and Europan 10 in Switzerland. His work has been featured at different exhibitions and his projects have been published in the major international architectural magazines and websites including the number Housing of Arquitectura ibérica, the anthology 100 World New Architecture and the last four editions of Archipendium. In 2011 Forma Edizioni published a small monograph on his work. In 2013 he was invited to join the jury of the international competition Europan 12, The Adaptable City - Inserting Urban Rhythms. In 2015 he was invited to join the jury of international competition for a contemporary Visitor Center located near the megalithic monument Cromeleque dos Almendres in the town of Guadalupe in the region of Évora, Portugal. The practice is committed to a research-based approach, whic is supported in an ongoing dialogue with students and colleagues who assist LRA in its work from time to time. Over the years the studio has been involved in a wide range of projects at different scales, and has completed many complex commissions, requiring great care over detail, giving precedence to poetry of materials, taking into account the relationship between architecture, art and landscape. He has recently completed the construction of a public garden of one hectare, Giardino Volante, with sculpture-games of contemporary artists in the historic center of Pistoia, near the old Ceppo Hospital area.
Lapo Ruffi Architetti / LRA is an architectural practice based in Pistoia, Italy.
