School Foyer and Preschool in Hamm
The new, two-storied school was built as a wooden construction and reaches low energy standard. The north part of the building is regrouping the classrooms on the ground floor, multipurpose rooms and the utility room. The classrooms of the school foyer are directed to the south. A large roofed recreational hall is connecting both parts of the building.
The compact design of the project, the orientation of the glass fronts to the south and the utilization of highly isolated materials allow to reach energetic consumption equal or lower than 25 kWh per year and m2. The recreational hall also has an energy regulating effect: the special planting has a positive impact on the air quality and the microclimate. The central element in the hall, regrouping sanitary and the staircase, is executed in clay, which allows saving and releasing of heat in winter and cold in summer.
