RCIII starts from the brief of the residents to rethink the organisation of their 70's home according to their needs of today, with the explicit request to optimise the link with the garden and terraces.
In response to this, the bathroom on the first floor was completely renovated and the configuration of the entrance, staircase, cloakroom and office space was adapted and optimised. Adjacent to the living space, we introduced a new garden room, separate from the house.
The garden room is designed as an open and transparent structure, rudimentary, with a sophisticated materiality. The position and volume are the result of harmonisation with the side facade of the house. The structure was made of natural-coloured anodised aluminium, framelessly filled in with clear glazing at the top, resting on a carpet of red-pigmented poly-concrete at the bottom.
The reflective facade cladding reflects the environment, nature and the sky.
The location, the horizontality and the palette of materials determine the image from the street.
In winter a sitting room with stove, fire bowl and schnapps, in summer the bar where the whole family and friends are received.
