In 2017, the first phase involved the renovation of a former photo lab on Jupiterstraat in Berchem, transforming it into a dynamic office environment. In the second phase, a new office building was constructed on Diksmuidelaan, connected to the Jupiterstraat project via an internal garden. This new office was designed as a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB), providing 28 new workspaces, two meeting rooms, a multipurpose room, bicycle storage, and sanitary facilities.
The new office was built on a plot measuring 6 meters wide and 36 meters deep, following the demolition of the former hair salon "Walter". The existing garden was preserved and redesigned, enhancing the connection between Jupiterstraat and Diksmuidelaan. For the company, this garden adds significant value to the urban building block.
The office was designed with a split-level section. Upon entering, visitors are greeted with views of the workspaces on the different floors. A central spatial staircase connects the staggered floor levels, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the building. As one moves through the building, alternating views of the surrounding park and enclosed garden are revealed through the meticulously engineered curtain walls. The ascent concludes at a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the city. The goal was to create a sustainable building, with a focus on circular construction (CLT structure).
