Architecture Fragments
Architecture Fragments is a project that was born tangent to the borders between different plastic arts, especially drawing, photography, painting, sculpture and architecture.
Concrete paintings, plaster projections or dreamlike architectures.
The works that make up this sample have been carried out between 2019 and 2020, paying tribute to the historical and contemporary architectural heritage of the island of Formentera. The result are pieces full of nuances and with great material uniformity, which enhances the duality necessary to conceive Architecture: hollow and full, inside and outside, light and shadow…
The daily tools for the practice of Architecture are put at the service of an artistic project that shows the entrails of wonderful buildings. Sections, plans and other projections intertwine to explain extraordinary relationships that are hidden from the naked eye.
Many of the pieces refer to buildings in which the Marià Castelló architecture studio has intervened and of which they have a deep knowledge.
Most of the works are executed with a single material to emphasize the harmony of the reference architectures. Mainly it is concrete and plaster. Mortars of different compositions made with locally extracted or recycled aggregates, rainwater and other elements with a low environmental footprint.
Many of the pieces are inscribed in the 20x5x20 cm format, a module that would allow the construction of larger-scale structures and landscapes thanks to their juxtaposition.
The laborious task involved in reaching the pieces for this exhibition has been possible thanks to the invaluable help, criteria and determination of the architect Lorena Ruzafa Tur, the conviction in the project of the cultural promoter Manolo Oya and the unconditional support of the artist Elena Vinyarskaya.
