Pretziada Headquarter
The project for Pretziada Headquarters involves the redevelopment of three rural buildings and the construction of a new volume in the furriadroxu (typical rural-pastoral building complex of the Sulcis Region, in Sardinia) of Is Aresus, Santadi.
The furriadroxiu extends over a wide slope and consists of 4 buildings, three of which acquired by Pretziada. The building downstream is a building consisting of three cells juxtaposed in depth (BUILDING A), followed - upwards - by a building in a dilapidated state with a double cell and finally (BUILDING B), at the top a building with an east trend -west (BUILDING C). The land is equipped with dry stone fences used for sheltering animals, dry stone walls used for the definition of the property or for terracing the levels of the land and wells originally used for domestic and agricultural activities.
The existing buildings are built in stone and ladiri (clay bricks) even if, over time, they have undergone patches of different materials (hollow bricks, concrete etc.).
The architectural intervention program is linked to Pretziada's activities, in particular to the world of narration of the territory and Sardinian culture, craftsmanship, design and (healthy!) tourism. The housing units of the complex will offer workplaces, to be inhabited in a broad sense (permanent and temporary residences for artists and for tourism) and spaces for workshops. In particular, the downstream building (building A) provides spaces related to collective activities, workshops / space for events / showroom, oven and laundry. Building B and building C are reserved for the residence (even temporary), as well as building D which includes work and conviviality spaces.
For management reasons, building D is the first to have been built and completed.
The spatial principles on which the redevelopment of the land and buildings are based on the reading of the traces and presence of the land and of the relationship between them and their surroundings.
In this regard, the highest point of the parcel (which houses a large outcropping rock), where it is planned to build a small beautiful viewpoint served by a path, is the place where orientation is possible with respect to the vast territory (S-XXL).
A more collective dimension is then identified in the spaces between things (buildings). The old fences belonging to the furriadroxu, near and far from the buildings, offer the opportunity to identify common areas in the vicinity (M). Finally, the appurtenances of the buildings draw a more intimate dimension, linked to the domesticity of living, as external spaces in continuation of the internal ones (S).
The reading of the relationships between inside and outside, between the landscape and the buildings, between the buildings themselves is the basis for the construction of the new floor plan.
From the architectural point of view, however, the tectonics of the wall is the one that is most privileged. The interventions on the individual buildings are then declined according to their morphology and the static - structural conditions of the existing one.
