Single family house in solid wood construction
The position, dimensions and design of the building refer to the barn that was originally on the property. From the upper floor of the barn there was a wonderful view towards the church tower and Serles on the one hand and towards the Nordkette on the other. These two perspectives should definitely be preserved or emphasized. The property is located in a densely built-up part of Igl, surrounded by tall old trees. The structure is structured in such a way that the bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the ground floor next to the entrance, while living and cooking, at the heart of family life, are located on the upper floor. The lounge rooms enjoy the best view and open generously up to the roof. The Dachkapfer cuts into the clear structure and forms the highlight of the building as a lookout and retreat. The impression of the roof beetle can be experienced on all floors and divides the room. The building was built in solid wood. Fir forms the last layer both inside and outside. Untreated, brushed on the inside and roughly sawn and pre-grayed on the outside, the naturalness of the wood can be experienced. The impression of the roof beetle runs through all floors as a calm and contrast-forming element and connects them to each other. The old, beloved pieces of furniture and lights are given a reserved frame by the clear material of the new in which they come into their own. At the same time, old elements such as the tiled stove are reinterpreted and create beautiful links between old and new.
