Musa da Bica
Musa da Bica is a small pub in Lisbon’s riverside Cais do Sodré.
Snacks and craft beers are served in a long and narrow room, with the counter, kitchen and storage space on the left and sanitary facilities located at the back.
The pub occupies the ground floor of a building that dates back to the late 18th century – an irregular space with a miscellaneous set of differently shaped openings and an arched stone structure that divides the room into sections displaying diverse formats.
The project retained the layout of the restaurant that formerly existed here, preserving the structure of the space while eliminating all of the accessory elements. The framing and all of the new and visible adjoining infrastructures are entirely covered with a dense, uniform and epidemic texture. This coloured surface is set on a neutral, raw base with equipment and furniture evoking industrial reminiscences.
