FOUR HOUSES
This study was realised with the Japanese office Tato / Yo Shimada as a response to a housing program situated in the outskirts of Tokyo. The project takes the shape of a shared house that can be divided in smaller units in order to hosts four private houses, as well as a shared community space. This shared space is accessible to residents, as well as to the local community. The plan of the house is organised around a cross structure that allows to divide the house into four triplex units. A system of staircases allows to divide each of these units into smaller apartments. In each scenario, units can be accessible individually, without entrance hall, so that residents can have the feeling to live in their own home, while sharing a bigger one. They can live both together and individually.
