Carta da Zucchero
Restructuring project of a small apartment in Rome
Carta da Zucchero is a project born in Rome within the Farfalla building, designed by ABDR Architetti Associati, whose external finishes reflect the typical materials of Roman construction: brick of furnace and natural travertine stone.
The apartment is on one level and was composed of spaces, not too large, all separated according to the functions. The intervention required the opening of these spaces and the creation of an open, spacious and flexible space according to the needs.
The lack of details of relevance within allowed us to work without limitations, to create a new environment from scratch. The idea was to create a youthful space, even through contrasting colors, but at the same time extremely functional in order to exploit all the available space given the small size.
The large windows overlooking the loggia contribute to create an extremely bright and warm environment, managing to illuminate the entrance as well. The entrance, in fact, is separated from the living room by means of a custom-made wall-bookcase which, while delimiting the spaces, lets the light pass through thanks to its permeable perforated structure.
