Slatted curved wall
The Slatted curved wall is a minimalist intervention dividing the space of an existing apartment of the Marconi-Alexandra neighbourhood.
The new division structures the residence’s open plane and allows for the creation of an office space adjoining the living room. Using a simple plane line, this project puts forward the exploration of one of architecture’s basic elements: the wall.
Four interventions are modulating the division
On the form; the undulate shape helps smooth out the corners and accentuates the fluidity of the open space.
On the texture: wooden lath with a smooth rhythm help dress up the living room side, contrasting with the exterior brick decor.
On the color; a gradient from gray to white, towards the convex corner, promotes rhythm and curve. Subtle between the thin slats, the effect becomes more perceptible with the undulation of the wall.
In the space; two openings punctuate the wall, one transparent and fixed, the other one opaque and removable, becoming invisible when the lath is closed.
Through a minutious attention to detail, a simple wall becomes an architectural object.
