Jubileo Plaza
Diversity has overwhelmed contemporary architecture with the importance of flexibility and creativity in the design of today´s projects. When designing an urban space, the same needs apply, there is a requirement to give people a place where anything can happen, where the design doesn´t constrain activity. Jubileo Plaza, strives to achieve such target by designing a stage for events regardless of whether it is day or night, if it rains or if it is sunny; and offers a true experience to its assistants; an outdoor event surrounded by a natural environment, with the possibility of being able to close it.
At the center of the project´s design, was the necessity to achieve an exciting and unique cover for a large open space whose structure wouldn´t affect all the activities to be held underneath. The Plaza is located at the Compensar Av 68 headquarters in the heart of Bogotá; very close to the airport, the Botanical Garden, the Simón Bolívar Park, and the new hotel zone of the city. Because of its location, there was also a need to welcome all the people that walks and enjoys the area.
As the Plaza started to develop, more requirements arose. There was a need to enclose the plaza, whenever it was needed, to protect guests from the weather and to give privacy to events. Because of such, a textile enclosure was installed in the border of the structure. It can be closed on all sides or just on those needed.
Today the venture has been a success. This 3140 square meter event stage, can seat up to 1500 persons or withstand a concert with more than 3500 guests. It can house dinners, celebrations, concerts, or any event that can be imagined; during day or night.
The project was designed for Compensar, one of the biggest compensation fund in Colombia, and the hight tech and innovative structure was done by Arpro construction firm.
