Lusail LRT construction
Lusail City's Light Rail Transit during construction in Doha Qatar
Lusail is a new city under construction on the north side of Doha in Qatar. It will stretch over 35 sq.km along the coast and projected to provide accommodation for up to 260,000 people, with marinas, commercial districts, leisure facilities, residential areas, island resorts. It is being developed by the state controlled developer Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company and constructed by QDVC and Parsons. It is also planned to accommodate the Lusail Iconic Stadium for the opening of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Lusail LRT (Light Rail Transit) will support and integrate this multi-layered program and connect the new city with Doha. This photo reportage of Lusail under construction took place in October 2013 on behalf of QDVC, as part of their on-going documentation of the construction works, and also as part of my overall coverage of Doha’s developments.
