Montreal Biosphère
Formerly known as pavilion of the United States for the Expo 67, the Montreal Biosphère it's the biggest structure in the world in form of a geodesic dome .
Conceived by Richard Buckminster Fuller and Shoji Sadao for the World Exposition of 1967, the Biosphère was originally covered by an acrylic layer which burnt in 1976.
An accident occurred during the renovation of the structure generating a fire which spared only the geodesic skeleton of the pavillon.
The Biosphère was abandoned by the municipality of Montreal and purchased only in 1990 by Environment Canada, which decided to create an environmental museum inside of the dome.
Canadian architect Éric Gauthier was charged in 1992 to build a set of enclosed buildings to host the museum, whose finality was disclosed to the public only in 1994
