Soho Loft
Located on a full floor of a notable cast iron building in SoHo, this residence maintains the open character of the original loft space while adding the more discrete spaces required by the client. Measuring nearly 100' x 45' and located on a street corner, the loft offered a unique opportunity to use the existing structure as a means of organization and enmesh the original building organization with the new interior spaces.
The column line running through the center of the space marks out the primary means of circulation. Precisely placed walls and openings lock into the geometry of the existing window bays, offering expansive views throughout the interior space and to the buildings and city gird beyond. An additional guest area and bath are contained in a compact volume situated at the end of the loft, and serves as a screen to the private elevator entrance beyond.
