SITE
The saltmarshes in question stand out in a set of mudflats on Sado Estuary, the only one still in function since the others were disabled or converted into fish ponds. Beaten earth tracks draw a rectangle on the water where there are several evaporators and crystallizers. These are linked to the coast where the building is placed.
BRIEF
A small factory that stores the extracted salt and the machinery for the cleaning/packing process. It must contain a storage tank, a large room for the machinery, a small pantry, an office, changing rooms and toilets.
PROPOSAL
A long and narrow roof appears on the landscape as a shadow mark. A wood pavillion with a single sided roof conceals a recessed building where the rooms are organized, two outer spaces in the building to load and discharge the salt (northeast and southwest side) and a continuous gallery along the water.
