Located in Ajuda’s neighborhood in the city of Lisbon (Portugal), the project entitled Memória develops itself in different architectural levels, which stand out not just individually but also together.
The interior space is clearly separated in two areas: the social one and the private one. On one hand, the bedrooms open onto the outside in order to create a strong relationship with the different shades of blue found in the city’s sky and also in Tejo’s river. These shades are brought into the balcony’s interior material giving us the feeling of a unique space coming from the outside to the inside.
On the other hand, the kitchen and the living room instead of creating a relationship with the exterior communicate directly with each other. Its separation is made by a handmade folding screen, which slides through the space in between. This handmade object it is not presented as an opaque material showing itself as a perforated delicate mesh, which creates a strong permeability between both spaces, keeping the same atmosphere.
