Palladio 4.0
Proposal for a Roman villa developed for the exhibition Re-constructivist Architecture.
Inspired by Palladian houses’ plans, this house is organized on a straight grid and a strong symmetry, however it differentiate from the model in a contemporary way, allowing itself more flexibility and focusing on our century’s problematic : sustainability. Four spaces, containing facilities (bathrooms, kitchen) swirl around a central distributive area. The area left between theses spaces is where are located bedrooms and living rooms. The house is surrounded by two layers of glass paneled walls, both being able to retract. The House not being site-specific, they offer an unobstructed view of the potential landscape, but mostly allow a spatial and thermal flexibility.
By cold weather the doubled layer passively maintains the interior temperature higher, and the intermediate space is used as a winter- garden. In warm months, the walls disappear allowing for natural ventilation, offering new spatial organizations and merging the Roman House to its landscape.
