Variations on transparency
Urban interference
Work in progress on building enclosure under construction
Cordoba, Argentina, January 2017
The project takes place in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. It began in 2015 as an initiative of the artist Romina Castiñeira and the company GALP investments. It is concreted in the enclosure fence of one of the buildings under construction of the company with the intention of offering a new space of well-being.
The intervention is called VARIATIONS ON TRANSPARENCY and consists of visual changes of the surface over time and seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn.
"Space will be transformed into something else. Like the field that once was land, like the French style house there was, like the building that will be built or how the ruins will remain. " RC
TRANSPARENCY is the concept chosen for this series of urban interferences, thought as a desirable citizen value for a community that aspires to a better quality of life. The proposal stresses the use of this appellation with the sole aim of declaiming it, presenting it in the public space and making it available for awareness.
In addition, it appeals to formal resources inherent in the fence logic, such as the expression metal material, plastic and hard dry stick typography that connects with the visual logic of advertising.
The surface of communication becomes in the content of the proposal. Sneaking at the advertising logic and slogan strategy makes it his own, it becomes his narrative.
The series of actions in relation to the work are of open perspective, that is, that beyond the sequence of programmed variations, the interventions are open to the circumstance. Thus, the laws of expression in public space characterized by the collision between the programmed and the avatar, mark the temporary rhythm of this proposal.
Romina Castiñeira is a visual artist, graduated from Sculpture of the National University of Cordoba. He exhibited at the Genaro Pérez Museum and the Recoleta Cultural Center of Buenos Aires, among other spaces.
