House Vila Rios
The house promotes a continued momentum resultant of function and architecture between the inner spaces aiming to foster a bright and comfortable atmosphere, which is capable of providing an uninhibited interaction between the residents.
The area is characterized by dense trees and by the proximity to the Laje stream and Santo Amaro de Oeiras beach. The steep slope site develops from West to East with a difference of eight meters between the outermost points.
The object of this proposal is located on a residential area majority built by smaller scale housing, near Oeiras’ garden.
The landscape framework addresses the study and definition of a solution that is integrated within the proposal area in order to enhance the environmental potential of the site. The treatment that was given to this site strives for a harmonious integration between both static and dynamic elements involved in it.
The goal is to create a highly comfortable microclimatic outer space were the formal solutions are consistent with the functional aspects. The vegetation comprehends elements of the local flora with Mediterranean characteristics.
A pine wood skin remains as the house exterior facade, covering a mixed structural system composed by concrete and steal beams. Different wood type materials form the inner living space.
