Olympic Village
The Olympic Village was designed for the Roman Olympics of 1960 and was later converted into a residential neighborhood.
The complex is characterized by the clear composition of the buildings, connected by streets, squares and green spaces. Although different architectural solutions are taken - linear blocks from five to three floors, cross shape and square plan two-story buildings - the intervention is unified by some recurrent elements such as pilotis, stringcourses, the brick cladding and the stairs volumes in the roof. The buildings ground floor is marked by iron and glass entrances, while the facades have ribbon windows alternated with loggias and singles openings. The design accuracy, as well as in the urban scale, can be found in the details, such as the interior stairs finishing.
