Fendi “Un Art Autre", the fur atelier.
THE EXHIBITION PROJECT
The exhibition “Un Art Autre. Creation and Innovation in Craftsmanship” is a chance to retrace FENDI’s history by immersing oneself in one of the most interesting sectors of fine craftsmanship, in which FENDI boasts an innate, long-lasting expertise: the art of fur-making. Since 1925, the year of its foundation, FENDI has tied its image to the art of fur making. From that moment onwards, the relationship between the maison and this precious material has been consolidated and strengthened through time. In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld placed the word “fun” alongside the word “fur”, creating the harmonious double FF logo that would indefinitely seal FENDI’s expertise and supremacy in this particular sector of high artisanship.
THE FUR ATELIER
This section is conceived as a didactical focus on the artisan’s know-how. Here digital technologies and craftsmanship (present and tradition)
coexist. During the exhibition FENDI’s artisans will work “live” in front of the audience demonstrating the complex and masterly process
that leads from the creative designer's project and sketch to the material creation of the so-called “objects of desire”. On the artisans’ working
table sides will be set visual, informative and documentary materials, such as the video interviews, and charming images from the most
important editorials featuring FENDI furs and bags on international magazines.
The room will also feature a series of differently manufactured fur-workmanship tablets and working canvas set in a line crossing the
rounded perimeter walls of the room, providing the visitor a different kind of experience and approach to the product.
