Fendi "Un Art Autre". The Brass Display
THE EXHIBITION PROJECT
The exhibition “Un Art Autre. Creation and Innovation in Craftsmanship” is a chance to retrace FENDI’s history by immersing oneself in
one of the most interesting sectors of fine craftsmanship, in which FENDI boasts an innate, long-lasting expertise: the art of fur-making.
Since 1925, the year of its foundation, FENDI has tied its image to the art of fur making. From that moment onwards, the relationship
between the maison and this precious material has been consolidated and strengthened through time. In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld placed the
word “fun” alongside the word “fur”, creating the harmonious double FF logo that would indefinitely seal FENDI’s expertise and supremacy
in this particular sector of high artisanship.
THE MAIN EXHIBITION ROOM
For the Fendi exhibition in the”‘Art University Museum” in Tokyo, an army of 26 cylindrical display cases, in brass armours, preserves the true icons of the maison: created between 1970 and 2013. The Fendi Furs are able to represent the evolution of the style and technique, in the sign of the balance between tradition and experimentation. The dynamic impact of the geometric layout, played entirely on symmetry, lies in the continuous reflection of the space on cylinders’s mirrored surfaces, in a constantly changing perspective.
