LinkingLinz | E13
Europan 13 - Linz, Autria
The project proposes a change in the perception of planning linked to new value systems and communication tools in our society.
In Linz, there is a great need to give to their inhabitants a leading role in the development of the city. To achieve this goal, the urban strategy will be developed in stages: first of all, it is proposed the creation of a mobile app (LinkingLinz) for citizenship involvement. Then, just once the communication between inhabitants has been established, the urban strategy can take place in the neighborhood.
Downloading the app you can get live data about everything that occurs in Linz. It also provides networking connections between users and the authorities, with the intention of exchanging and participating in every civic, ecological and technological related issues in order to enhance the development of the city.
The application is linked to the new urban development phases proposed for the city.
The new urban development for the area will be complete by the means of two main milestone constructions that will evolve in parallel with the needs of locals:
Firstly, the existing shopping center gets replaced by the 'CivicLab+Housing', a community platform for civic engagement and collaborative urbanism. The aforementioned hybrid building will include a mixed use podium floating above the ground gloor that contains a technology center and an electric vehicle themed parking. On top of the podium a new ecohousing neighbourhood rises.
The city gains a new public and permeable space after separating the podium from the ground floor.
Secondly, “Housing in the Corner” includes housing+commerce. A double structural spine, that reminds the local traditional architecture, brings along a dichotomy, understood as a combination of public and private, where houses are oriented to an inner green area and commercial+leisure areas are oriented to Landwiedstraße.” Furthermore, it is an organic and modular structure that will grow following the population needs, always focused in a sustainable development of the area.
LinkingLinz will start to rethink the growth of the city of Linz in the long term, from a collaborative, sustainable and human look.
Eventually, LinkingLinz will contribute not only to urban change, but also social, completing a new pioneer reference for the city of Linz.
