Judicial Headquarters in Villaviciosa (together with Diaz de Miranda)
The Judicial Seat of Villaviciosa in Asturias, functionally meets the requirements of a building dedicated to the Administration of Justice. It has been designed in a robbus manner following a longitudinal scheme. Three floors with circulations articulated by a triple height atrium and light coming through the ceiling; a symbolic, emblematic access in its own space.
The functional programme is arranged along a longitudinal spine grouping the vertical circulations, toilets and other rooms, at the same time dividing the public areas from the courtrooms, registry office and administration area. The structure is clad in panels, with each storey colour coded accordingly.
The building is covered by metal lattice work that provides shelter from the sun with a different degree of perforation depending on the orientation of the facade. The metal lattice work mates the building opaque from the outside and clear from the inside.
