Headquarter Gebrüder Weiss
The idea for the new headquarters is based on the principle of a continuous car park. The new building reacts with a two-storied building on pillars to the situation of the parked trucks. The structure is situated on the most north-eastern corner of the site and is positioned slightly away from the road. The new headquarter generates a closure of the existing patio-like situation and through its precise definition it enables a clear differentiation from the neighboring residential area. The two-storey planar conception of the office building with its affiliated patios creates a sound and true to scale integration in the heterogeneous environment. The contents corporate value and global acting are translated through the motif of extension. Taking the headquarters off the ground allows a free view from the offices and the lounge area over the parked trucks. Simultaneously the building’s function as corporate headquarters gets legible. An emphasized entrance situation leads the visitor via a spacious, two-parted ramp element to the first floor. The two-storey composition generates flat hierarchical structures and promotes internal communication through the informal exchange between the workers. The interior transparency conveys a generous atmosphere; the chosen conception offers a spatial experience to visitors and users, showing a spatially translated prospect of the global network of Gebrüder Weiss.
