Exhibition "Marcel Duchamp", San Paolo
The exhibition examines the varied thematic and temporal nature of Duchamp’s work through the lens of the artist’s own exhibition designs, a series which ultimately resolved the various problems associated with the artist’s emphasis on concept and the fruition of art itself.
Rooted in this critical operation, the exhibition is designed as a continuous row of 5 “peep-shows”, each containing projections of one of Duchamp’s exhibit designs. The series runs the length of the exhibition hall placed in front of a continuous bending wall where Duchamp’s artwork is displayed.
Smooth and luxurious to the touch (achieved by using a 50% Polyurethane, 50% Polyethilene finish), the form and grayish color of the “wall” evoke the image of a brain.
