Ayres Store
The project explores the ambiguity established between object and container, through a faceted form that deploys itself inside the store. The abstract form expresses only its sensuality and a mutating infatuation, escaping in each perspective switch, to the meanings, which from every angle pretend to confine it and explain it.
A game of contrast of forms textures and colors is established between the architectural elements conforming the space of the store, on one side, floor walls and ceiling, on the other side the alien form that invades it. While the empty box is rigorously orthogonal, the alien object avoids straight angles and parallel lines. At the same time as the box is characterized for its rough textures and imperfections as well as for its dark coloring, the object highlights are its sharp form and polished white surface. Corian is the material of choice to materialize this form and to achieve the contrast with the textured wall, the imperfect concrete floor, and the exposed technical ceiling.
Though the changing distance between the box and the alien object, a space is conformed where merchandize is exhibited and the dressing rooms are disposed. The tension generated between the contrasting logics is utilized to draw attention to the products exposed in the store. To this high tension zone, fulfilled with surprise and interest is opposed to an empty center only occupied by low sofas, a tranquility place to stop and relax.
